Lego Robotics Afterschool Program
Delight’s Lego Robotics Afterschool Program runs monthly challenges which can range from building and battling Sumo Bots and playing Robot Mini Golf to programming Self-Driving Cars, Marshmallow Catapults and “Mars Rover” Robots that navigate terrain and search for mineral deposits.
Kids are captivated as they incorporate the newest generation of motors, sensors and software, programming their commands directly into the intelligent brick and building their skills throughout progressive classes. Using Lego Mindstorms EV3 kits and software, students work in pairs to build robots and learn drag-and-drop programming with EV3 education software. Using a variety of sensors, such as infrared, ultrasonic, color and touch sensors, students program robots to respond to environmental factors, making “smart” machines. They learn to work with their partner to solve problems and create engineering solutions for a host of engaging challenges.
This quality afterschool program is available for a low cost compared to similar programs, thanks to local partner organizations Eugene Sudbury School. Opal Center for Arts & Education and Bohemia Elementary. Ages 8-12.
